Rusted Steel Horned Lizard Sculpture

A small desert creature with a lot of attitude.

Inspired by the unmistakable shape of the Southwestern horned lizard — affectionately known as the "horny toad" — this handcrafted steel sculpture brings a little Sonoran character to gardens, patios, courtyards, and desert-modern spaces.

Each piece is cut from steel, cleaned, naturally rusted, and finished by hand in our Tucson, Arizona shop. The broad body, armored silhouette, and dimensional surface details give the sculpture a strong presence without overwhelming the surrounding landscape.

The smaller size works beautifully as a compact garden or patio accent, while the 18" version has enough presence to read as a more substantial landscape sculpture.

Material

Cut steel with a naturally developed rust finish.

Every piece develops its own variation in rust coloration, texture, and surface pattern, so no two sculptures will look exactly alike.

Natural Rust — Unsealed
Naturally rusted steel left unsealed so the surface can continue to weather and evolve over time.

Protective Clear Coat
A durable semi-gloss clear coat that deepens the rust color and helps preserve the finish. Suitable for indoor or outdoor display.

Premium Outdoor Clear Coat
Our most durable finish option. An automotive-grade glossy clear coat provides additional protection for pieces intended for prolonged outdoor exposure.

Placement

Place the sculpture on a stable, reasonably level surface such as gravel, natural stone, patio paving, or a garden ledge.

When moving the piece, handle it from the main body rather than smaller projecting details.

Each horned lizard is individually fabricated and finished by hand in our Tucson, Arizona shop.

Natural rust is inherently variable. Differences in color, texture, and surface pattern are part of the character of the material rather than defects.

• Each sculpture is individually fabricated and finished by hand.
• Natural rust coloration, pattern, and surface texture will vary from piece to piece.
• Unsealed steel will continue to weather and may produce rust runoff when exposed to rain or irrigation. Rust runoff can stain nearby concrete, stone, tile, wood, and other surfaces.
• Even sealed steel may eventually develop rust if the protective coating becomes scratched or damaged.
• Clear-coated pieces may appear darker and richer than unsealed rust.
• Production time may vary depending on size, fabrication schedule, rust development, and selected finish.
• Colors may appear slightly different depending on lighting and screen settings.
