Handmade Iron Desert Tortoise Sculpture

A dimensional desert tortoise with a rounded, segmented shell, handmade from iron as a freestanding sculpture.

Size

Available in three sizes (width x height x depth): 12" x 7" x 4", 26" x 19" x 14", and 45" x 33" x 24" (oversized). Custom sizes may be available on request. The sculptures are shown together to illustrate the available sizes. Each sculpture is sold individually.

Material / Construction

Handmade from cut iron with a dimensional, rounded shell construction. Available natural or finished with a protective coat. Every piece is individually fabricated, so proportions and detailing will vary slightly.

Finish Options

Natural Rust: cut, cleaned, and naturally rusted, then left unsealed so the surface continues to weather and deepen over time.

Indoor Glossy Coat: a glossy clear coat suitable for indoor or sheltered display.

Premium Outdoor Coat: our most durable option — an automotive-grade glossy clear coat built for pieces facing prolonged outdoor exposure.

Display / Mounting

This is a freestanding sculpture and does not require wall mounting. The largest size may require two or more people to safely move and position.

Every piece is cut, cleaned, naturally rusted, and finished by hand in our Tucson, Arizona shop.

Custom Work

We welcome custom requests — different sizes, finishes, or related Southwestern designs. Large-scale residential, commercial, hospitality, and architectural commissions are also welcome. Please reach out before ordering to discuss what's possible.

- Unsealed steel will continue to weather and may produce rust runoff when exposed to rain or irrigation, which can stain nearby surfaces.
- Even sealed steel may eventually develop rust if the coating is scratched, damaged, or subjected to prolonged exterior exposure.
- Clear-coated pieces may appear slightly darker and richer than unsealed rust.
- Production time may vary depending on size, selected finish, fabrication schedule, rust development, and clear coating.
- Colors may appear slightly different depending on lighting and screen settings.

The largest size(s) of this piece are made to order as oversized special-order pieces. Because artwork at this scale requires special packing and transportation, a destination ZIP-code quote is required before purchase. Once requested, we'll obtain a professional packing and crating quote and arrange third-party freight shipping specifically for your order. All packing, crating, freight, insurance/declared-value coverage, residential or liftgate delivery fees, and related shipping expenses are paid by the buyer through a custom listing. Production lead time begins after payment is received. Local pickup is available in Tucson, Arizona by prior arrangement.
