“Another one of my favorites, the humble barrel cactus.
The original design and intention for these was to take much of what I did with the saguaro and simply alter the dimensions. But as iterations progressed, I found it enjoyable to make a range of features fully unique to these, including fruit for the tops, varying metals and patinas, as well as experimenting with more and less ribs to create striking, dense barrels and sparse, airy versions.
Like my other life-size desert pieces, I can build these with lights and in many forms, so please let me know if your space is in need of one!
